Shaping the Future of Smart Farming: i-Farmate at United AgriTech 2025

Agriculture in India is at a turning point, and technology is playing a defining role in this transformation. At the United AgriTech 2025 Expo in Madurai,I—Sachin Abishek representing Auxwit Technologies had the privilege to showcase our innovation, i-Farmate, to farmers, agri-businesses, and technology partners.

For me, as the Product Owner of i-Farmate, tthis event was not just about showcasing a product. It was about listening, observing, and learning what farmers truly expect—and those insights have reshaped how I look at the future of smart farming.

Farmers’ Voices: Insights That Matter

The most valuable part of the expo was engaging directly with farmers. They didn’t just look at i-Farmate with curiosity; they asked practical and meaningful questions:

  • Can I use this on my mango, sugarcane, or coconut farm?
  • What will the cost be?
  • What else can it do beyond weeding?

Their questions reinforced something important for me: i-Farmate must be affordable, modular, and adaptable to existing farm systems. Farmers also highlighted pain points I had to think about more deeply—early root disease detection, weed management in crops like chilies and roses, and energy-efficient solutions to reduce their costs.

These conversations gave me a clearer perspective: technology alone isn’t enough; it has to directly fit into the farmer’s everyday reality.

Gaining New Perspectives from Collaboration

The expo also gave me insights beyond the farmer’s field. I had conversations with companies working on  drones, carbon trading, water management, and robotics, many of whom showed interest in collaboration. It made me realize that i-Farmate doesn’t need to stand alone—it can become part of a bigger ecosystem of agri-tech solutions.

Experts also shared their advice on sensor calibration, NDVI mapping, and spectral cameras, which opened fresh insights to me on how we can expand i-Farmate’s technical capabilities in the future.

Experts shared inputs on sensor calibration, NDVI mapping, and spectral camera integration—technical insights that will help us refine i-Farmate and increase its real-world impact.

Beyond Technology: Building Trust

One of my biggest personal takeaways was that innovation isn’t only about what the product can do—it’s about how farmers perceive it. Farmers responded very positively when i-Farmate was introduced as a robotic farm assistant designed to support them. They were especially enthusiastic about the idea of pilot trials, where they could experience the results for themselves.

That taught me something simple but powerful: building trust and showing real-world value is just as important as building the technology itself.

Looking Ahead

Walking away from United AgriTech 2025, I realized that this expo wasn’t just an opportunity to present i-Farmate—it was a chance to rethink, refine, and realign. The feedback I received has given me fresh perspectives on how i-Farmate must evolve to meet farmers’ needs today and tomorrow.

As Product Owner, my commitment is to shape i-Farmate into an intelligent, practical, and sustainable solution that truly empowers farmers. For me, this expo was more than a showcase—it marked the start of a sharper, more focused journey toward building an inclusive and future-ready agriculture ecosystem.

Are you a farmer, agribusiness, or agri-tech enthusiast curious about how robotics and AI can transform agriculture? Stay tuned—I’ll be sharing more updates as i-Farmate continues its journey.
