AUXWIT Technologies Gets Incubated at NAARM’s a-IDEA with i-Farmate and Terramate
At Thaniyas Organic Farm, nestled in the fertile lands of Kovilpatti, Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, we’ve always been passionate about sustainable and organic farming. For over seven years, we’ve cultivated a wide range of crops — from brinjals and lemons to timber — all using organic, chemical-free methods. But even as our produce flourished, we were constantly battling one persistent challenge: weeds.
Every farming season, we noticed that more than 50% of our total profits were consumed by the cost of manual weed removal. It wasn’t just an economic drain — it was a roadblock to scalability and sustainability. This recurring problem sparked a simple but powerful idea: What if weed removal could be automated?
That’s how i-Farmate and Terramate were born — innovative concepts for unmanned autonomous rover and satellite based crop monitoring respectively specifically designed to tackle weed removal, disease detection etc., with precision and efficiency. Our vision was to reduce the burden on manual labor while promoting a smarter, tech-driven approach to organic farming.
To take this idea forward, we sought the support of a-IDEA, the Technology Business Incubator of NAARM (National Academy of Agricultural Research Management). We knew that to turn our concept into a scalable agri-tech solution, we needed the right mentorship, resources, and ecosystem.
The incubation process at NAARM was not just a simple application. It was a multi-step journey of evaluations, pitches, and screenings, where numerous startups from across the country showcased their solutions aimed at transforming agriculture. We presented our prototypes and outlined our real-world problem statement, backed by years of on-ground farming experience.
Our pitch centered around two innovations:
- i-Farmate: An intelligent autonomous rover designed to detect and uproot weeds without disturbing the main crops.
- Terramate: A satellite based application system for crop growth monitoring, field boundary mapping , disease detection.
The panel at NAARM recognized the potential impact of our solution on the Indian farming ecosystem, especially for small to mid-scale organic farmers facing similar challenges. After several rounds of discussions and technical vetting, we were selected for incubation under the prestigious KrishiBoot program at a-IDEA NAARM.
Being incubated at a-IDEA has been a transformative experience for us. It has provided us access to:
- Expert mentorship in agri-business and technology
- Networking opportunities with fellow agri-tech startups
- Access to funding avenues and investor connects
- Technical and strategic guidance to fine-tune our product for market readiness
With the support of NAARM and the vibrant startup ecosystem at a-IDEA, we are now actively developing the first working prototype of i-Farmate. Our mission is clear: to empower modern farmers with cutting-edge autonomous solutions that reduce costs, increase yields, and make sustainable farming more accessible than ever before.
We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity and look forward to sharing more updates as we progress in this exciting journey. The future of farming is smart, sustainable, and autonomous — and we’re thrilled to be part of this revolution.
